BUY J CRAFTS CAMPAIGN
The damage by recent earthquakes has been extensive. Traditional interior-related craftsmanship has suffered as a result of factories and kilns, many with hundreds of years of working history, being destroyed.
These craft trades, which include porcelain, pottery, rice paper, textile, lacquerware and furniture, have depended on long-established modes of manufacturing, and their well-honed skill relies on its stability. I personally consider these craft trades are some of the most important trades to be preserved, as they would be in any other culture.
I would like to take this opportunity to raise awareness of this critical situation in the industry, and appeal for the long-term support for those who are currently going through a painful recovery process.
We hope that this presentation with selective Japanese suppliers will lead to a beneficial opportunity for interior designers to open up a new dimension in their design.
